The Pigeon EP is one of the WP's more mysterious releases. I don't know why but it isn't listed on their website discography. Nor was it ever released in a physical format. It's available digitally via Moshi Moshi's shop and comes with nothing more than the explanation above - that it was "recorded in a solar powered studio". Why its geneology is so vague I have no idea, but I can judge the songs, which are once again terrific. Whatever was going on with the recording there was a clearly a piano available. Perhaps that encouraged them to break out Long Island again, the undoubted highlight of Sophie (more on that soon). That song and David's Evening On Wheels are WP stalwarts and two of Tattersall's best songs. Both of the versions here are my favourites, the sound is really good and they've got some friends in for hearty backing vocals to lift the former even higher. The two other songs, neither of which I knew before, are both excellent as well, and catchy singalong choruses prevail. Which is one of the things I love about this band.
