  1. Both a nice piece of miscellany and a good insight into the recording of the Beer In The Breakers record, this 7 inch was released by Darren Hayman as the first physical product from his internet based "January Songs" project, where he wrote and recorded a song a day through out that month in 2011. Getting people to help kept this interesting for both him and the listener and this record captures probably the best known and most successful of the collaborations. Elizabeth from Allo Darlin sings a beautiful lament on one side and the WP's fill the other. As Darren says himself in the "making of" video it's very much the Wave Pictures fronted by Darren Haymen. The song is nice and upbeat, has a catchy chorus and considering it was free has almost nothing to negative to be said about it. Nice to pick up on a hand-painted 7 inch too. As I say though, the video is of particular interest as this is the same location that BITB was recorded so I presume the set up was similar or identical. It's kind of fascinating to see the cramped conditions which the last LP came out of.

  2. P.S. my hand-painted sleeve is rubbish! I'd say stick to the music everyone but D. Hayman's current project of hand-drawing all 1500 copies of January Songs CDs shows how talented he is in that area. Clearly he'd assessed Morris and the boys as limited in that area and made it as easy as possible for them....
